Baseline

Last updated: July 20, 2023
An approved and documented reference point formally designated by the user at a specific time during an item's life cycle.

This reference point constitutes the complete and current approved configuration identification of the specific item, including its associated underwriting documents, data and interfaces to other items. When a baseline is declared in AssetWise, a baseline document is created by the system.

Approval of the baseline document constitutes the declared configuration of the item. Any subsequent changes to the data and documents covered by the baseline will be subject to configuration control.

The baseline is used for controlling future changes, as input to a following phase, and consolidates and documents the results from the preceding phase.

AssetWise distinguishes between two types of baselines:
  • Item Baseline
  • Object Baseline

AssetWise can also identify multiple baselines.
